If you want to vote like me print this out and bring it to the polls with you on May 17th. I'm thinking about it now because I'll be in Honduras on the 17th so I filled out an absentee ballot. See the Committee of Seventy's Philadelphia 2011 Municipal Primary Information for sample ballots and candidate info.
JUDGE OF THE COMMONWEALTH COURT (based on the advice of a lawyer friend of mine):
- KATHRYN BOOCKVAR
JUDGE OF THE COURT OF COMMON PLEAS (based on the advice of another lawyer friend of mine):
- DAINE GREY JR
- BARBARA A MCDERMOTT
- LEON A KING II
- JOSEPH C WATERS
- TOM FITZPATRICK
I didn't vote for any other judges because I don't know anything about them.
MAYOR:
- MICHAEL A NUTTER (not that he'll need my vote to win, but I think he's been good for city government)
CITY COMMISSIONER:
- STEPHANIE SINGER (the video at Philly Weekly's "Get to Know Your City Council Candidates" convinced me she wants to get things done, and Marge Tartaglione needs to retire)
No vote for the REGISTER OF WILLS.
SHERIFF:
- JOHN KROMER (he makes some strong points on his website)
COUNCIL AT LARGE:
- SHERRIE COHEN (see the PW article I mentioned above)
- ANDREW TOY (I've been helping out with his campaign for months)
No vote for Council 3rd District. The Blackwell dynasty is just insane, but Dphax is possibly even worse. Write-in suggestions?
Finally, I voted yes on the charter question because Andy Toy supports it.
